The Traveler's Field Guide
A complete guide to Keys, Chambers, Rings, optional paths, Resonance, and the rules that shape progression through the visible Vault.
How the journey works
The Vault is built as a progression map, not a simple content list. Keys reveal paths, Keys open their matching Chambers, and completed Chamber journeys build the progress needed to reach later Rings.
Core rule: a visible Key is not automatically owned, and seeing a later Ring does not unlock it. Progress comes from attained Keys and completed Chambers.
Keys, Chambers, and Rings
These three parts work together, but they do different jobs. Keeping that distinction clear is the foundation of the whole experience.
Symbolic artifacts that hold a concept, record your access, and open one matching Chamber.
Guided journeys containing the information, reflection, practice, audio, and discoveries associated with a Key.
Groups of central Keys arranged as stages of the visible ascent. A Ring contains Keys; it does not open a Chamber.
One relationship, stated plainly
A Key opens a Chamber. A Ring organizes multiple Keys. Completing Chambers builds Resonance toward later Rings.
Anchor Keys stabilize a Ring
Anchor Keys are the required central Keys in a Ring. They establish the concepts that every traveler needs before that Ring's gate can be passed.
- They appear on the central orbital system and are marked as Required Anchor.
- Acquiring an Anchor Key and completing its Chamber are separate steps. The Gate scene shows both.
- Completed Anchor Chambers provide the foundations for passage. Resonance records the wider journeys you have completed.
- An Anchor still opens its own Chamber just like any other Key.
Anchor does not mean superior. It means structurally required for that Ring's progression rule.
Orbit Keys create choice inside the Ring
Orbit Keys sit on the central Ring system but are optional. They let you choose which ideas and Chambers become part of your route instead of forcing every traveler through one identical sequence.
- Orbit Keys can be selected according to interest, need, or the route you want to build.
- Completing an Orbit Key's Chamber contributes one Resonance, just like any other unique Chamber completion.
- You do not need every Orbit Key to reach the next horizon.
- Optional does not mean unimportant; it means the choice belongs to the traveler.
Constellations branch away from the central ascent
Constellation Keys are optional themed branches connected to a Ring. They explore specialized subjects without making every branch mandatory for every traveler.
- A Constellation may contain one or several related Keys.
- Its Chambers can add Resonance and shape your personal Trail.
- Different combinations of Orbit and Constellation journeys can satisfy the same gate target.
- A branch can remain veiled until the required earlier progress makes it readable.
The central path provides structure; Constellations provide specialization. Both can matter without becoming the same kind of requirement.
Cosmic Gates connect the Rings
Each uniquely completed Chamber adds one Resonance. Resonance is cumulative across your Trail and is retained when you move onward. Select a small Cosmic Gate marker on the Vault or Map to approach its scene, inspect the Anchor foundations, and find your next step. The scene distinguishes Anchor Keys acquired from Anchor Chambers completed. Passage unlocking is not active in this preview.
| Visible Ring | Preview Resonance target |
|---|---|
| Ring 1 / First | 3 Resonance |
| Ring 2 / Seeker | 7 Resonance |
| Ring 3 / Architect | 12 Resonance |
| Ring 4 / Alchemist | 18 Resonance |
| Ring 5 / Cosmic | 25 Resonance |
| Ring 6 / Veiled | 33 Resonance |
| Ring 7 / Convergence | 42 Resonance · final Ring reference |
Resonance is a game-progression measurement. It is not money, status, spiritual worth, or a scientific claim about physical frequency. The avatar creator's cosmetic "Resonance field" is also separate from progression Resonance.
Your Trail records how you moved through the Map
A Trail is the path made visible by the Keys you choose, the Chambers you complete, and the branches you enter. Required Anchors keep the journey coherent while optional routes keep it personal.
- Two travelers can reach the same Ring through different valid combinations.
- Your Trail is a record of choices, not a public ranking or moral score.
- Completed Chambers illuminate the route and add Resonance.
- Future Profile views can show this as a personal orbital signature.
Readable, veiled, and completely hidden
The Map is designed to preserve discovery. The earliest and most inviting Keys can be read now, while most later coordinates remain obscured until more of the journey is completed.
The identity and approved artwork can be shown and inspected.
The Key's form is visible beneath a veil, but its name and Chamber details remain concealed.
Later research concepts are not shown or served in the public experience at all.
Reveal more Keys as you unlock them. Veils deepen with distance from your current Ring: muted color nearby, fading color one Ring ahead, silver two Rings ahead, deep shadow three Rings ahead, and black silhouettes beyond. Browsing an anonymous Key never claims it or opens its Chamber.
Stars and Resonance are not interchangeable
They answer different questions: Stars concern access and exchange; Resonance records completed journeys and progression.
Planned Vault currency for claiming eligible Keys. Stars cannot buy Resonance, certify completion, or bypass a progression gate.
Earned only through unique Chamber completions in the current model. It cannot be purchased or transferred.
Payments are not live. The current Stars displays are part of the product preview and do not process real-money purchases.
What is active in this preview
The Map, seven visible Ring systems, readable and veiled boundaries, local traveler creation, Key inspection surfaces, Chambers directory, Profile, Guides, and adjustable audio are available for review.
- The First Key is launch-ready; its Chamber opens with it when KFTC launches.
- Every other readable Key begins locked until the First Key's Chamber is completed.
- Guest progress is stored on this device; production member persistence is not active.
- Live external AI, real payments, Stars checkout, and referrals remain off.
- The progression rules in this guide describe the intended Vault system; launch progression is not active in this local preview.
This guide will evolve with the product. When a rule changes, the Map labels and the matching guide section should change together.
